George Hinman (1862-1947)
George Hinman, 85, a resident of the Hardin and Luana communities for the greater portion of his lifetime, passed away suddenly at Elgin, Ill., Monday while out for a short stroll. Mr. Hinman had lived in Postville intermittently the past few years with his sister, Mrs. A. M. Candee, and only last week went to Elgin, where he was making his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Hinman.
The remains are expected here Thursday morning and funeral services are tentatively set for 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Schutte funeral home. Interment will be in Hardin cemetery.
Mr. Hinman was born near Monona, one of seven children born to Clark and Cynthia Hinman. He was married to Clara Roberts in New Mexico and they had two sons, Arch and Rex. The latter passed away many years ago. His wife passed away ten years ago.
Surviving him are his son, Arch, two grandsons, Rex, in Florida, and Eugene in Elgin, Ill., and his sister, Mrs. Candee.
For many years Mr. Hinman was custodian of the Luana consolidated schools.
