Amelia Helena Panncke Heins, the daughter of Frederick Panncke and Dorothea Busacker, was born March 22, 1876 in Garnavillo, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Garnavillo on June 11, 1876, and confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on April 14, 1889.
She was married to John Herman Heins at Luana, February 1, 1895. They farmed near Luana and then near Castalia, for many years. To this union were born three daughters. Mrs. Heins and her daughter, Lenora, moved to Postville in 1929 after the death of her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1927, a daughter, Gertrude, and an infant daughter, one brother, Fred Panncke and two brothers, who passed away as young children.
She is survived by her daughter, Lenora, a number of nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
She was confined to her bed for about two weeks preceding her death on May 31, 1960 at the age of 84 years, two months, and nine days.
Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home, Thursday, June 2, at 2:00. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating.
