Special to the Times-Journal
Elkader, Ia., -- Feb. 15. -- On Wednesday morning at 9:30 a memorial mass was celebrated in honor of the memory of Raymond Corkery, who was killed in action on Nov. 6. The services were attended by a large crowd in spite of the inclement weather. The church was decorated in the national colors and the returned soldiers of Clayton county marched in a body.Mrs. White rendered very beautifully "Abide With Me," also an offertory solo. This gives to St. Joseph's Church its first gold star.
