Henry H. Coobs 1897-1981

Henry H. Coobs, 84, a rural McGregor farmer, died Oct 3 in a tractor accident near his home.

He was born May 3, 1897, the son of Harm and Johanna (Peek) Coobs at Forest City, Iowa. He attended school in Forest City, Klemme and Elsworth Junior College.

He married Lucinda Kinsley on Oct. 13, 1920. Survivors include his wife, Lucinda; a son, John of Norris, Tenn., two daughters, Jessie Tornowske of McGregor and Nancy Donlon of Luana; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church, with Rev. Egon Gerdes officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony Tornowske, Jim Donlon, Dan Donlon, Tim Donlon, Frank Livingood, and David Coobs.

Henry Herman Coobs, son of Harm and Johanna Peek Coobs, born May 3, 1897 at Forest City, Iowa. Attended school in Forest City, Iowa, and Klemme and Elsworth Jr. College. October 13, 1920, he was united in marriage to Lucinda Kinsley. To this union three children were born. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary October 13, 1980. He was killed October 3, 1981 in an accident on his farm.

Surviving are his wife, Lucinda; one son, John, Norris, Tenn.; two daughters, Jessie Tornowske, McGregor, and Nancy Donlon, Luana; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
