Frank Fay Passes After Amputation
Frank Fay, 77, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away Saturday morning in the University hospital where he had been a patient since the amputation of his left leg several weeks ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock in the Catholic church in Clermont and interment was in Postville cemetery.
Mr. Fay was born in Grand Meadow township March 29, 1869, as the son of James and Elizabeth Shriner Fay. He was married to Effie Harmon September 10, 1890, and followed the occupation of farming for many years. For the past eight years he was manager of the Farmers Commission Company at Clermont, in which city the family home was established.
Mr. and Mrs. Fay were the parents of two children, Mrs. Frank Cahalan of Cedar Rapids and Oliver Fay, the latter passing away 16 years ago.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Charles of Postville, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Eno of Luana. His parents and two brothers, Dr. Oliver J. Fay and George W. Fay, and his son, Oliver, preceded him in death.
