Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church for Charles H. Fay, 83, who passed away at his home on Saturday. He was a resident of this community the entire period of his life.
Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, had charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Charles H. Fay, son of James and Elizabeth Shiner Fay, was born September 26, 1879 on a farm in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county. He passed away at his home in Postville Saturday, October 17, at 6:10 p.m. at the age of 83 years.
On August 30, 1893 he was united in marriage to Jennie Snell at Monona. To this union four girls were born: Hazel, who died in infancy; Mabel, Mrs. George Farmer, of Waterloo; Florence, Mrs. Emil Kluss, of Waterloo; Flossie, Mrs. Herb Gass, of Clermont.
Charles Fay is survived by his wife, three daughters, one sister, Mrs. Mary Eno, of Luana and three grandchildren. His three brothers, Frank, Oliver and George preceded him in death.
Mr. Fay spent his entire active life as a farmer in Grand Meadow and Marion townships. He was a member of the Board of Supervisors in Clayton county for two terms. The last 12 years of his life were lived in Postville.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fay celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on August 30, 1953 in Postville.
