Irene Cecilia Havlicek, daughter of Albert and Anna Havlicek, was born on June 2, 1908, on a farm near Monona and died on Sunday, August 14, 1938, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Her early life was spent on the farm. She moved with her parents to Monona some years ago, where she had lived the remainder of her life. She attended Monona High School and St. Vincent's Academy, Dubuque. On Feberuary 7, 1929 she was married to Earl Bothel and to this union were born, Dorla Dean, now 8; Roger, 7; Curtis, 3. Mrs. Bothel became afflicted with her fatal illness a little over a month ago. On the Saturday before her death, she was taken to Iowa City. Medical aid did not help her and she passed away on Sunday. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and three children; her mother, Mrs. Anna Havlicek; two brothers, Charles T. and Albert, Jr.; one sister Mary at home; and a nephew Raymond, at home, all of Monona; and numerous relatives and friends. One sister, Anna, preceded her in death 18 years ago, and her father, Albert Havlicek also, thirteen years ago. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Church on Wednesday morning, August 17, at nine o"clock, Rev. Fr. Vernon Peters singing requiem high mass. Father Donlon said prayers at the grave in the St. Wenceslaus cemetery near Beulah.
