Funeral services for Alfred E. Kleinow, 73, were yesterday at Martins' Crestview Funeral Chapel. Mr. Kleinow died Oct. 17 in the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle following an illness of three weeks. He was born in McGregor, Iowa, July 4, 1898, and has been a resident of the Prosser-Whitstran area for the past 27 years. He was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Carpenter's Local No. 1849 of Pasco.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel, of the home; two sons, Robert Kleinow of Sunnyside and Jack VanderWeg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six daughters, Mrs. Paige (Delores) Buerger of Monona, Iowa, Mrs. Alton (Jacqueline) Korsvik of Prosser, Mrs. Andrew (Devon) Schab of Yakima, Mrs. Leonard (Betty) Blaak of Bitburg, Germany, Mrs. Carl (Wanda) Thompson of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. Kent (Judy) Cummings of Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Alfreda McClellan of Goleta, Calif., and Mrs. Helen Keinanen of Tower, Minn.; a brother, Walter Kleinow of North Springs, Iowa; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

All eight of the Kleinows' children were here with their father before his death. It was the first time in 27 years they had all been together.

The Rev. Thomas Martin of the Prosser United Methodist Church officiated at the service. Pallbearers were Bill Allison, Joe Foisy, V.H. Foisy, Paul Hill, Art Holmes and Al Raap. Interment was in East Prosser Cemetery.

~note - Alfred was first married to Lillian Thornton who died in childbirth on March 23, 1935. Her other children with Alfred were Delores, Jacqueline, Devonne and Robert. Her obit is posted on the Allamakee county obit board.
