Funeral services for Harriet Louise Smith, age 71, were held Monday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa with the Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiating. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa with the Rev. Arnold Meltz of Christ Lutheran Church officiating.

Harriet Louise, daughter of Reuben and Hattie (Gadow) Baumann, was born March 9, 1921 at Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School and married Laurel Angen on August 17, 1940 at Miltona, Minnesota. They were the parents of three children. They lived in Waterloo, Iowa from 1942 until 1972. Harriet was employed as a nursing assistant in the Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa from 1960 to 1971. Harriet married Leslie Vernon Smith on November 27, 1971 at Waterloo, Iowa. For seven years they lived on a farm in Post Township in Allamakee County Iowa. In 1978 they moved to their present home in Luana, Iowa. During this time she had been employed as a homecare aide for various people in the area. Harriet was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville and was an active member in the CPC women's organization.

Harriet Louise Smith died Friday, September 25, 1992 in the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Laurel Angen, a son Dale Angen, a brother Arthur Baumann, a sister Lucille Cordova, and a step-son, John Smith.

Harriet is survived by her husband, Leslie, a son Larry (Colleen) Angen of Waterloo, Iowa, and a daughter Judy (Gary) Guilford of Blue Springs, Missouri; 3 step-sons, Leighton (Linda) Smith of Postville, Iowa, Richard Smith, also of Postville, Iowa, and Eric Smith of Farley, Iowa, and a step-daughter, Kathleen Smith of Luana, Iowa; 3 brothers, Don (Grace) Baumann, Harvey (Marge) Baumann, and Roger (Sharon) Baumann, all of Waterloo, Iowa; 4 sisters, Shirley (Bud) Dail of Tucson, Arizona, Ruth (Edward) Wagner of Phoenix, Arizona, Betty Baumann of Alexandria, Minnesota, and Jean (Jim) Barrett of Waterloo, Iowa; a brother-in-law Bill Cordova of Falls Church, Virginia, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Peterson of Waterloo, Iowa.
