Clifford Olson

Clifford James Theodore Olson, 86, Postville, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Stoney Brook Village, West Union, Iowa. Cliff was born on June 19, 1925, in Grand Meadow Township in Clayton County, Iowa, to Joseph T. and Irene (Kittleson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. He attended Clermont Country School and graduated from Clermont High School.

Cliff married Ida Mae Severn on February 1, 1947. Four children were born to this union. Cliff was a farmer, salesman and chauffeur, who tried to help and please people. He lived in the Clermont area from his birth until 1992 when Cliff and Ida Mae moved to Postville. They later moved to Stoney Brook Village in November 2010. He was a member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae Olson, West Union; four children, Frank (Mary) Olson, West Union, Jeanne (Larry) Wolfe, West Salem, WI, Judy (Glen) Dean, Postville, Rodney (Petra) Olson, Drakenstein, Germany; eight grandchildren, Jacob (Leslie) Olson, Andrew (Kristen) Olson, Eric (Nicole) Wolfe, Jennifer (Tom) Acton, Jody (Jon) McKowen, Jed (Jess) Dean, Melissa Olson, Kevin Olson and fourteen great-grandchildren, Kayla, Natalie, Jack and Willow Olson, Ashley and Hillary Wolfe, Bailey, Brynn and Blake Acton, Trey and Drew McKowen, Sarah, Taylor and Peyton Dean.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Irvin Olson, Lyle Olson and sister, Chrystal Lovely.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Ron Roberts will officiate.

Inurnment will follow in East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clermont, Iowa.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
