Arthur Hultgren

A life-long McGregor area resident, Arthur Otto Hultgren, 89 died Friday, Nov 10, in Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He had been residing at Great River Care Center here.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 P.M. in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swede Ridge, by Rev. Allen Schultz of Marion, former pastor of the church. Burial was in the Norwegian Cemetery, rural McGregor.

Grandsons serving as pallbearers were Lowell and Carroll Henkes Jr, Duane Clough, Randall and Mark Beyhl and John Coberly.

Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hultgren was born April 14, 1889 in Chicago to Andrew and Caroline (Oleson) Hultgren. He and Adelia Eggen were married Aug. 6, 1910, in McGregor.

Mr. Hultgren was a retired farmer and former Milwaukee Road employee.

Surviving are one son, Richard of Cedar Rapids; four daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Alice) Clough of Dubuque, Mrs. Carroll (Irene) Henkes of McGregor, Mrs. Harry (Jean) Smith of Rockford Illinois and Mrs. Fred (Delores) Beyhl of East Moline Illinois; 30 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, John of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 5.
