Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Lester C. "Scotty" Henderson, age 76, were held Saturday, December 31, 1994, 11:00 a.m. at Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa. Pastor Eugene Kramer officiated. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Mark Dawson, Rachel and Meghan Henderson, and Kate Heideman. Active pallbearers were Larry Dawson, Fred Mondin, George Heideman, Glenda Henderson, and Julie Martin. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery in Monona, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of the arrangements.
Lester C. Henderson was born on a farm north of Monona, Iowa on September 22, 1918 to Clarence and Jesse Belle (Stafford) Henderson. Scotty attended country school and graduated from Monona High School in 1935. He married Rosella Sweeney on September 8, 1942. They were engaged in farming for almost twenty years. Scotty spent the last thirty years of his working life as a jobber-distributor for the Shell Oil Company. He was a sports enthusiast, an avid hunter and fisherman, and active in church, school, and civic affairs.
Lester C. "Scotty" Henderson died on Wednesday, December 28, 1994 at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon, Iowa after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold Henderson and Leon Henderson and his sister, Thelma Bentien.
He is survived by his wife, Rosella; 5 children, Sherie (Larry) Dawson of Monona, Iowa, Dr. Joan Henderson (Dr. Fred Mondin) of Boise, Idaho, Gene (Glenda) Henderson of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Wynn Henderson (Julie Martin) of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, and Nancy (George) Heideman of Madison, Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren, Michael Dawson, Matthew Dawson, Mark Dawson, Rachel Henderson, Meghan Henderson, Kate Heideman, Christopher Collis, Greg Mondin, and Julie Mondin and 1 great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Frances Engelhardt and Gretchen Wiethorn, both of Monona, Iowa and Mayme Landt of Luana, Iowa and 1 brother, Marlyn Henderson of Monona, Iowa.
