Glendor Eldo Heins

Funeral services for Glen Heins were held Monday, May 1, 2000 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Hupp officiated. The casket bearers were Daryl Mabb, Todd Jermeland, Travis Jermeland, Jason Heins, Jamie Solheim, Jesse Hanson. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Glendor Eldo Heins, the son of Henry Carl and Amelia Elizabeth (Kutzbach) Heins, was born July 8, 1925 on the family farm in Monona Township, south of Luana, Iowa. He passed away April 26, 2000 at the home of his daughter, Marsha Little, in West Union, Iowa. He had reached the age of 74 years, nine months and 18 days.

He attended the rural school near his home. On July 23, 1947 Glen was married to Bernita Darlene Monroe at Guttenberg, Iowa. To this union nine children were born. The family lived on the Heins family farm south of Luana all of their lives. Glen lived with his daughter, Penny and husband, Greg, in Elkader, Iowa. Glen enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He especially liked to go fishing with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bernita, who died August 17, 1981, two brothers, Ernest Heins and Henry Heins, Jr., and a grandson, Nick Solheim.

Surviving are his children: Kathryn (Donald) Solheim of Castalia, IA; Beverly (David) Jermeland of West Union, IA; Wayne (Debra) Heins of Luana, IA, Roger (Mary) Heins of Nakoosa, WI; Janice (Gene) Brink of Baltimore, MD; Marsha Little of West Union and Glen Little of Elgin, IA; Terri (James) Mackay of Postville, IA; Steve (Muriel) Heins of Luana, IA and Penny (Greg) Jacobson of Elkader, IA.

There are 29 grandchildren: Todd Jermeland, Stacey Massman, Travis Jermeland; Chris Heins, Melissa Heins; Daryl Mabb, Angela Mabb, Tyler Little, Jordan Little; Kimberly Boyum, Jamie, Shane, Joshua and Matthew Solheim; Jennifer, Jason, Aaron and Justin Heins; Jesse Hanson, Alex Jacobson, Emily Jacobson, Morgan Jacobson, Kyle Jacobson; Meca Baker, Sara Peyton; Jeremy, Chad and Denna Heins.

Also 15 great grandchildren: Micah, Ashley, Annalise, Malachi and Alisabeth Boyum; Isaiah and Elijah Solheim; Michelle Monty, Danielle Jermeland, Trevor Massman, Josi Baker, Bethany Peyton, Ryan Peyton, Qulana Hiserman, Tre Hiserman Heins; two sisters, LaVerna Dundee of Postville and Mabel Sawvell of St. Paul, MN, and a special friend, Rose Heins of Luana.

Glen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
