Funeral services for Alice Doerring were held Monday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. Rev. Elwin Farwell officiated. Pallbearers were Keith Mohs, Roland Doerring, Oliver Doerring, James Doerring, Ewald Walch and Bob Doerring. Burial was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Alice Ida, daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Possehl) Preuss, was born June 24, 1911 at Clayton Center near Garnavillo, Iowa. She was baptized at Garnavillo, Iowa July 30, 1911 and was confirmed September 13, 1936 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. She attended the Monona School, graduating in 1929. On February 18, 1931 Alice was united in marriage to Lester Doerring at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa by Pastor William Keul. The couple farmed south of Luana until moving to Monona, Iowa in 1960. Alice became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa in September of 1986, having Parkinson's Disease for twenty years.

Alice died Friday, May 3, 1991 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester, who died October 7, 1986; a sister, Bernice Gruel and a brother Harold Preuss.

She is survived by a son, Milo (Diane) Doerring of Luana, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Rhonda (Mike) Donlon of Elkader, Iowa, Scotty (Doreen) Doerring, and Mitchell (Valerie) Doerring, all of Monona, Iowa, and Sue Ellen Doerring of Mason City, Iowa; 4 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Donlon, Jill Donlon, Matthew Donlon, and Bradley Doerring; and 1 sister-in-law, Amanda Becker of Postville, Iowa.
