Funeral services for Mary Kiester (sometimes it was spelled Kuester) were held Monday, January 2, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, Iowa. Dr. Gary Dobbins officiated. Pallbearers were Donald, Harvey, Charles, Frederick, Palmer, Gerhardt, Willard, and David Levenhagen. Burial was in the Council Hill Cemetery, rural McGregor, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona, Iowa was in charge of services.

Mary A. Kiester was the daughter of Ferdinand and Mina (Timmerick)*somtimes the spelling was Timmerich* Kuester, was born October 9, 1911 in Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. She received her education in the Figgie Country School. Mary liked gardening, music, bird watching, and was an artist. She also enjoyed her family, friends, nieces, and nephews, and had a great affection for her cat, Molly. Mary died Friday, December 30, 1994 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. She had been a resident there since December 5. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; 2 brothers, George Kuester, and Reuben Kiester; 3 sisters, Emma Levenhagen, Clara Levenhagen, and Ida Kiester; and 2 nieces, Ruth Erickson and Florence Johnson.

She is survived by nieces and their spouses, Lovina Timmerman and Margie (Burton) Schlein of Monona, Iowa, Mary (Milton) Turner of Waukon, Iowa, Helen Harbach and Edna (Charles) Patrick of San Diego, California, Darlene (Marvin) Miller of McGregor, Iowa, Agnes (Bob) Tesar of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Lillian Eldreth of Randleman, North Carolina, and June (David) Karol of Roseau, Minnesota; nephews and their spouses: Donald Levenhagen and Harvey (JoLena) Levenhagen of Monona, Iowa, Charles (Ardyce) Levenhagen, Marvin Johnson, Willard (Violet) Levenhagen and Gerhardt Levenhagen of Lake Bronson, Minnesota, Frederick (Mary) Levenhagen of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Palmer Levenhagen and friend Karen Hensch of Anoka, Minnesota, and David (Margaret) Levenhagen of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, in addition to a host of other relatives and friends.
