Loda Sawvell, 70, died Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph hospital in Omaha. He had submitted to surgery and later complications and a heart attack caused his death. Survivors: his widow, Katie and one daughter, Mrs. George Thompson of Lenox; a daughter Mrs. Clifford Jeppersen and one son, Floyd, both of Wall, S. Dak., eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Henry Junge of Redding, Calif., and one brother, Charles of Prairie du Chlen, Wics.Mr. Sawvell was born at McGregor, Iowa, April 10, 1881. He had lived in Lenox eight years.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. Harold Butts officiating. Music was furnished by the men’s quartet: Erskine Blair, James Arneal, Paul Davis and Guy Henderson with Mrs. Norma Paymal at the organ. Interment at Fairview cemetery.
Loda Sawvell, son of Hiram and Emily Sawvell was born April 10, 1881 in McGregor, Iowa, in Clayton county and passed away at Omaha, Neb. Saturday, Feb. 16 at the age of 70 years, 10 months and six days. He was one of eleven children.
He was united in marriage to Katie Ait at McGregor, Iowa on June 27, 1906. To this union were born 2 daughters and one son, Pearl Thompson of Lenox, Iowa, Sylvia Jeppesen and Floyd Sawvell, both of Wall, S. Dak.
He homesteaded in Wall in 1907, where he lived most of his married life. He retired and moved to Lenox eight years ago. He was a devoted husband and loving father.
