Died - In Willoughby, Ohio, at the residence of her son-in-law, Dr. T.M. Moore, Monday, December 4, at 6:55 a.m., Mrs. Luana Scott, wife of W.S. Scott, of Luana, Iowa.

Luana Harvey, daughter of Hon. David and Julia Harvey, was born in North Hero, Vermont, May 8, 1827, and was married to W.S. Scott, July 28th, 1848. She was the mother of six children, four of whom have died. Her eldest daughter is the wife of Alpheus Ernst, of Luana, and the youngest is the wife of Dr. T.M. Moore, of Willoughby, Ohio, where Mr. and Mrs. Scott have been visiting for several months past. She has one surviving sister living at Mt. Ayr, in this state.

Mrs. Scott was sick but a few days, although not in full health for some time. The cause of her death was la grippe with lung and heart complications. Funeral services were held at the home of Dr. Moore on Wednesday, the 6th inst. at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. H.S. Jackson, of the M.E. church. The remains of Mrs. Scott were placed temporarily in the vault at Willoughby, but will be brought for interment in the family lot west of Luana later.

The writer has been personally acquainted with the deceased for thirty-eight years, and in that time has never heard an evil or angry word, as coming from her, to the detriment of anyone. Her life-work, as it appeared to us, was to do all the good possible, and no harm, and as we look back over these many years we remember so many acts of kindness, so many good deeds done without hope of reward in this world, we think it no wonder she was considered a friend, wife and mother, an excellent friend loved by all who knew her. A good and neighbor has gone home, and although we may not see her again in this world, it is possible for us to meet her on the other shore. For the past twenty-five years her house has been a home indeed for all the ministers of the Gospel who came this way, whether to stop over night or for a meal, and they were always welcome. We have reason for the hope that she has a home "over there," where death will never enter. "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
