Gustina Sophie Moon was born in New York on March 12, 1874 and died at her home in Monona, Iowa, on Tuesday morning, Feb. 14 1928.
After a short stay in New York she moved with her parents directly to Clayton county, Iowa, and took up residence approximately five miles southwest of the town of Monona.
In 1894 she was united in marriage to Harry Moon. To this Union were born six children, namely; Mrs. Hugo Vogt, Roy, Ernie, Arthur, Floyd and Harold. At present the youngest son is living at home and the others within the near vicinity.
She is survived by her entire family; by six grandchildren; by three brothers, William Miller of Monona; Ferdinand Miller of Farmersburg and John A. Miller of Rapid City, South Dakota.
Mrs. Moon was baptized and confirmed in the Monona Lutheran Church. For a number of years she and her family attended the Evangelical church at Roberts Creek, and in 1925 became a member of the Pilgrim Evangelical church of Monona. She was deeply interested in the church and willingly gave herself and of her substance to further its work. She was faithful in her attendance at public worship, until, due to illness, she was forced to stay away. During this period of four and one-half months of hardship and trial, we have reason to believe that she trusted greatly in “the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort--.”
The family are united in their testimony that she was a kind and affectionate mother, always working hard for the best interests of her family and home.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. A. Hillman of Norwalk, Wis., and the Pastor R. W. Berg, of Monona.
