Harry Hobart Hinman

Funeral services for Harry Hobart Hinman, 66, were held Thursday afternoon, Feb. 27, at 2 o'clock at the Monona Methodist church with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 1 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Mr. Hinman died Monday, Feb. 24, at the Veterans' hospital in Iowa City. He had become seriously ill just six days prior to his death.

He was born a son of Charles Albert and Lillie, nee Ridenour, Hinman, March 5, 1897, at Hardin, Clayton County. He was educated in the Luana schools.

He was married to Ruth Alice Thornton, April 4, 1923, at Waukon. He followed the trade of carpenter. He was a member of the Monona Methodist church.

Mr. Hinman was a veteran of World War I.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Eda) Smith and Mrs. Lloyd (Grace) Pearson; and two brothers, Clifford and Freddie.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Mrs. Alois (Doris) Swenson of Warner Robins, Ga., Jennifer of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Don (Joyce) Montour of Monona, two sons, Warren of Monona and James of Tacoma, Wash., a brother, Clyde of Luana, and 11 grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Thomas James, soloist, Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was the organist.

Pallbearers were Harva Miller, Francis Nagel, Henry Rekow, Lee Ball, Harlan Schara, Ralph Doolittle, Lawrence Schultz, and Lorenz Doerring.
