Funeral services for Florence Auguste Emma Bugenhagen were held Wednesday May 18 at St.John's Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. Rev. Ted Ager officiated. Burial was in St.John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Craig Bugenhagen, Kevin Bugenhagen, Dan Sass, Kyle Bugenhagen, Ervin Bugenhagen, Marvin Kruse, David Fox, and Dean Nielsen.

Florence was born November 28, 1906 in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa to Henry and Mary (Kamps) Genz. She was baptized by Rev. Paulsen on December 20, 1906 and confirmed May 23, 1920 by Rev. Kumpf at St.John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. She received her education in Cherry Valley country school and Luana High School.

On February 14, 1929 Florence married Walter Bugenhagen at St.John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. The couple had 3 children. They farmed in the Luana area until retiring in Luana in 1966. Florence died Sunday, May 15, 1988 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was a member of St.John's Lutheran Church and ELCA, Town and Country Club, and card club.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother Elmer Genz and one sister, Mrs. Eda Kruse.

Surviving is her husband, Walter; 2 sons, Robert Bugenhagen and Donald Bugenhagen, both of Luana, Iowa, and one daughter, Joan, Mrs. Ramon Sass of Monona; 6 grandchildren, Craig, Kevin, Denise, and Kyle Bugenhagen, Debra Fox and Danny Sass and 4 great-grandchildren.
