Funeral services for Martin Amundson were held Saturday, May 27, 1989 at the East Clermont Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Rev. Kim Thacker officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Mark Amundson, Larry Amundson, Jeremy Pampuch, William Bockoven, Josh Amundson, and Jack Christensen.

Martin Helmer Amundson, son of Hans and Martine (Johnson) Amundson was born May 20, 1892 in Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died Tuesday, May 23, 1989 in the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church. He attended the rural schools in Marion Township. On June 26, 1918 he married Mabel Helgerson at the home of her parents. They had 6 children. They farmed in Grand Meadow Township until 1958 when they moved to Clermont, Iowa where Martin worked as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Norman Amundson, 4 brothers, Adolph, Ole, Henry, and Louie Amundson and 3 sisters, Gunda Gisleson, Emma Loftsgard, and Louise Vick.

He was a lifetime member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Mabel, 4 sons, Joseph Amundson, Roger (Lois) Amundson, all of Clermont, Iowa, Wayne (Clara) Amundson of Postville, Iowa and Victor (Karen) Amundson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; 1 daughter, Arlene Bochoven of West Union, Iowa and a daughter-in-law, Loretta Amundson of Postville, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
