Lloyd Alonza Bacon was born April 9, 1902 in Monona, Iowa to Francis "Frank" and FaDora (Baughman) Bacon. He was educated in a country school near Monona. On March 5, 1930 he married Harriett Marie Schroeder at the Lutheran parsonage in Monona. They farmed near Monona in Allamakee County until 1947 and moved into Monona in 1948. In 1950 he began buying cattle as an independent livestock buyer and continued this career for 30 years.

Lloyd died Sunday, August 28, 1988 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Harold Ward officiated. Burial was in Monona City Cemetery with Schultz Funeral Home, Monona in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren: Dwight, Dan,and Jerry Bacon, Jenny Pannell, Jeffrey and Timothy Drake, Robert and Steven Bacon, Brent and Jody Bacon, Christine and Aimee Bacon.

Casket bearers were William Gentz, Kermit Klinge, Tom Grady, Bob Smith, Burdette Wold, Irvin Huinker, Tom Wagner, and Ernie Fruechte, Jr.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Harriett who died May 23, 1987; three brothers Harry, Claude and Ralph Bacon; a sister, Genevieve Lybbert, and a daughter-in-law, Minerva Bacon.

Surviving are five sons: William of Elgin, Iowa, Allan of Postville, Iowa, Donald "Pete" and Richard of Monona, Iowa and Ralph of Postville, Iowa; a daughter Shirley Drake of Omaha, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
