Funeral services were held Tuesday May 2 for Claudie Gordon, 91, who died April 29, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The 2 p.m. services were held at Thornburg Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.

She was born August 15, 1897 in Joelton, Tennessee to Alexander "Jeff" and Myrtle Rose. In 1912 she married Kenneth Gordon, formerly of Nashua,Iowa but residing in Tennessee. They moved to Marquette in 1927 and resided there until his death in 1964. For the past eight years she made her home in Waukon, Iowa. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Marquette, Iowa before transferring membership to St. Paul's Methodist in Waukon.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Florence Phiefield of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Kathryn Roffman of Waukon, Mrs. Adelbert Brainard of Luana; a son Robert Gordon of Marion, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Etta, a son Kimball, a brother, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
