HUPFER, RAYMOND GEORGE
Funeral services for Raymond George Hupfer,58, were held Monday, January 25, 1971 at 10:30 o'clock at St.Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. R.E. Langholz and Rev. Fred F. Darnauer officiating. The body lay in state at the church from 9:30 o'clock in the morning until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Mr. Hupfer had been in failing health for the last 15 years.He died Friday morning January 22, 1971 at General Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin where he was taken January 18 for care.
He was born the son of Edward and Clara, nee Schmitt, Hupfer, May 15, 1912 at Monona. He was baptized July 12, 1914 by the Rev. Kirkhoefer and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in January of 1939 when Dr. H.W. Siefkes was pastor of St.Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. He attended the Monona schools. He was married to Ruth Jacobson, March 1, 1938 at Monona. He worked in a grocery store in Monona and in 1937 went into partnership with Lloyd Egbert in this business. He continued in the grocery business until 1968 when he sold his business because of ill health.
He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge, and had also served on the Monona Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Karen) McAchran of Imperial Beach, California and Mrs. Ronald O. (Diane) Mueller of Monona. Two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Franck of Poynette, Wisconsin and Mrs. George (Marie) Baade of Monona; two brothers, Herbert of McGregor and Vern of Monona; and six grandchildren, Mary Ann, Michael, and David McAchran and Anthony, Andrew, and Jody Mueller.
Music at the services was provided by the congregation singing two songs. Mrs. George Heins was the organist. Pallbearers were Edward Hupfer, Douglas Baade, Gene Baade, Glenn Plaehn, Jim Peters, and Herbert Horns.
