Carmen D. Schrader, 41, of 961-15th St. N. E. died Saturday (December 28, 2002) at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (Jan. 2, 2003) at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. It was Carmen's wish to be cremated.
Carmen was born October 13, 1961 in Prairie du Chien, Wis., the daughter of Calvin and Shirley (Sass) Henkes. She graduated from MFL Community Schools in Monona, IA in 1980.
She attended NIACC and Buena Vista University and graduated in 1998. Carmen was married to David L. Schrader on Nov. 29, 1980 in Farmersburg, IA. They farmed in the Farmersburg area for eight years. They moved to Mason City in 1992 and she worked for Opportunity Village for several years and has worked in Case Management for Cerro Gordo County since Nov. 1998. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, collecting Longaberger Baskets, family vacations and supporting her children's activities.
Cherishing her memory is her husband David L. Schrader of Mason City; son, Andrew Schrader and daughter, Amy Schrader, both at home; her parents, Calvin and Shirley Henkes of Farmersburg, IA; her sisters: Deanna Sandberg of Rockford, IL, Marsha (Lloyd) Feickert of Marion, Sheryl (Steve) Kruse of Marion, Janice (Rick) Johanningmeier of Monona, Jeanne (Paul) Miller of Luana, Debbie (Brian) Meyer of Monona; mother and father-in-law Ronald and Marjorie Schrader of Monona; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Jurging of Cedar Rapids, Debbie (Bill) Murphy of Detroit, MI, Doug (Karla) Schrader of Luana, Denise (Hall) Everman of Postville, Dawn (Dave) Mueller of Garnavillo, IA. Preceding her in death were her grandparents and sister, Connie Jurging.
