Helen Lorraine Lamborn, 82, of Clermont, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.
Funeral services for Helen Lamborn were held Tuesday, November 7, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the East Clermont Lutheran Church at rural Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Helen Beth Kuhens officiated. Casket bearers were Roger Amundson, Daryl Anderson, Larry Lamborn, Eldred Nuehring, Quinton Olson, Gerald Schneider. Honorary bearers were grandchildren, Andrew Lamborn and Gwynydd Lamborn of Anchorage, Alaska. Interment was in the East Clermont Church Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.
Helen was born Sept. 3, 1918, the daughter of John Henry "J.H." and Adda E. (Smith) McShane. She grew up on their farm in the Hickory Creek valley north of Luana. She attended schools in the area.
On Nov. 10, 1938, Helen was united in marriage with Donald Lamborn. The couple farmed north of Luana, northeast of Postville, and for many years between Clermont and Gunder. They built a home and retired to Clermont in 1980.
Helen enjoyed reading and drawing. She was a member of East Clermont Lutheran Church and its circles. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Postville on July 3, 1991.
Survivors include two children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren: her son, David Lamborn, his son Andrew, and Andrew's daughter Gwynydd and her children, Christina, Deangelo and Eddie, Jr., all of Anchorage, Alaska; and her daughter Lisa Brainard of Decorah.
Survivors from Luana are sister-in-law Jane McShane and brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Noraline) Lamborn, and Charles Ziegler. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Helen Lamborn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, who died June 28, 1982; her sisters Grace Barr and Lula Bundrick, as well as a sister, Lois, in infancy; and her brother Donald McShane.
