Services Held For Ole O. Loftsgard

Funeral services for Ole O. Loftsgard were held Monday, April 10, 1972 at 1:30 p.m. at the Marion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Henriksen officiating. Mr. Loftsgard died April 7 at Postville Community Hospital. Burial was in the Marion Cemetery with Muehlethalers of Elgin in charge of arrangements.

Ole Olvin Loftsgard, son of Nels T. and Anna (Jellum) Loftsgard, was born November 16, 1887 on a farm in Clayton County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church at Gunder. He attended the rural school of the area.

On December 9, 1916, he was united in marriage to Anna Erickson. They had four children: the first son who died in infancy, Aldora, (Mrs. Myron Anderson) of Iowa City, Orlando of Elgin, and Josephine, (Mrs. Rodney Smith) of Postville.

Mr. Loftsgard lived his entire life in the same community. Farming was his occupation and they had lived on their farm 53 years.

Mr. Loftsgard is survived by his widow, Anna, his three children, thirteen grandchildren: David, Donald, Douglas and Marsha Smith, Margaret (Mrs. Ed Krambeer), Marilyn (Mrs. James Lenth), Mavis (Mrs. John Chevalier), Melody (Mrs. Gary Nims), L'Myra (Mrs. Charles Hoogland), Kendra (Mrs. Paul Fauser), Kaye, Kara and Norman Loftsgard; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Nelvin of West Union; four sisters, Mary (Mrs. Henry Olson) of Postville, Tillie (Mrs. Henry Amundson) of Clermont, Helgina (Mrs. Elmer Nelson) of West Union and Sophia Loftsgard of Luana.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, his parents, an infant grandson, Wayne Loftsgard, a son-in-law, Myron B. Anderson; two sisters, Nina, Mrs. Ole Amundson and Viola, Mrs. Roy Johanningmeier and two brothers, Louie and Theodore.
