Donna Mae Selma Tena Olson, 82, Gunder, Iowa, died Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Stoney Brook Village in West Union, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Donna was born on September 1, 1927, on the family homestead, rural Luana, Iowa, to Henry and Mahala (Hoth) Radloff. She attended Gunder Country School through the eighth grade.
Donna was united in marriage to Milton Orville Olson on January 8, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. Seven children were born to this union. Donna and Milton farmed together for their entire married life in the Gunder, Iowa, area. They celebrated nearly sixty years of marriage together until the death of Milton, on December 27, 2006. Donna was a long-time member of the Home Garden Club, Marion Lutheran Church, and Marion WELCA and was an Avon Representative in Northeast Iowa for nearly thirty years. She will be remembered for her homemade bread, pecan caramel rolls, Christmas breakfast, fried chicken and ham balls. She will be deeply missed by her many family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Connie Olson (Jim Hutchison), Juneau, AK, Jerry (Dianna) Olson, Ossian, Margaret (Mark) Carlson, Anchorage, AK, Larry (Cindy) Olson, Postville, Donna (Rodney) Flannigan, Virginia, MN, Milton D. (Mary) Olson, Postville, James (Lynnette) Olson, Postville; thirteen grandchildren, Charles Anderson, Dan (Suzanne) Anderson, Brian (Eva) Olson, Bruce (Erika) Olson, Katrina Carlson, Heather (Dan) Scannell, Jarrod (Kellie) Olson, Kyle (Amy) Flannigan, Sarah Flannigan, Alex Flannigan, Megan Olson, Annie Olson, Bob Olson; twelve great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica Anderson, Kaitlyn and Brady Olson, Gavin and Jocelyn Flannigan, Brett, Blaine, Emily and Blake Olson, Anna Grace Scannell, Patience Anderson; one brother, Verdean (Jean Ann) Radloff, Postville, and many other family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mahala Radloff; one sister, Lillian (Milo) Jacobia and one brother, Harley (Mary) Radloff, Sr.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa. The Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Marion Lutheran Cemetery in Gunder, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.
