Funeral services were held for Mrs. Edward Lybbert on Monday, March 20, at the Methodist church in Cresco.

Genevieve Maud Lybbert was born July 21, 1891, at Monona, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Arthur. She received her teacher's certificate from Valders Normal School in Decorah and taught at Luana Consolidated School and the Vernon Springs township school near Cresco.

She married Edward Lybbert in 1913. They farmed west of Cresco until 1943 when they moved into Cresco.

She was devoted to her church and served it in many capacities. She was a member of the Howard County Board of Education for many years; active in the Republican party, having served as chairman for several years; an active member of Twentieth Century Club, Garden Club and the historical society. Genevieve was also a founding member of the board of directors of Evans Memorial Home. Her flower gardens at the home, as well as her home, have been enjoyed by many.

In her later years she started writing poetry and received recognitions and awards from various organizations. Some of her poems have been published and many appeared in the bulletins of her church. At the time of her death she had just completed arrangements for publication of a book of her poems.

She is survived by her husband, Edward, who resides at Evans Memorial Home; seven children, 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd Bacon of Monona.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.
