Loretta I. Tesar, age 73, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 11, 1937, in Monona, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Havlicek) Lestina. She married Clifford Tesar at St. Bridget’s Church in Postville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2005.
Loretta was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and worked in the Homebound Ministry. She worked in nursing for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, dancing and spending time with family and friends. “She was our center.”
She is survived by a daughter, Lori (Paul) Schwarz of Wauzeka, Wis., two sons: Terry (Peggy) Tesar and Kevin (Kim) Tesar, both of Prairie du Chien; four sisters: Helen Stickfort of Garnavillo, Iowa, Donna Martie of Monona, Iowa, Marcy Lenth and June Looney, both of Prairie du Chien; four grandchildren: Kirk, Nick, Kristian and Kamryn, along with a great grandchild, Kadin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers: Raymond, Jimmy, Charlie and Tommy Lestina; two sisters: Irene Ambrose and an infant sister, Stasia.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at St. Gabriels Catholic Church with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.
