Margaret C. Miller Hoover died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Elkader Care Center in Elkader.

Mass of Christian Burial was said at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader with Rev. Paul R. Peters as Celebrant. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Music for the funeral was provided by Becky Gundacker, organist.

Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until mass time at the church on Thursday.

Casket bearers were Corby Gundacker, James Gundacker, David Corlett, Brad Corlett, and Arlan Quandahl. Honorary casket bearers were the St. Joseph Crafters.

She was born January 10, 1912, to Nicholas and Elizabeth Thillen Miller at the Miller farm home north of Elkader. She attended St. Joseph's school through high school and graduated with the class of 1929.

On November 17, 1937, she was married to Arthur Hoover at St. Joseph's church. Art and Margaret were engaged in farming until their retirement; when they moved to town and made their home on First Street in Elkader. She later worked for Katherine Miller and Mariella Miller at the Fashion Shoppe in Elkader.

Margaret was an active member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Guild and St. Joseph's Crafters. She will be most remembered for her kindness and helpfulness to others.

Survivors include cousins, Mariella Miller of Elkader, Becky (Corby) Gundacker of Elkader, Sid (Rhonda) Miller of Winter Springs, FL, Mike (Janet) Miller of Winston Salem, NC, Jane (Arlan) Quandahl of Monona, Jill (DeeJay) Smith of Land 'O Lakes, FL; niece, Norma Hoover of Wisconsin, and nephew John (Glendene)Hoover of Corvallis, OR.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Art in 1986; nephew, Robert Hoover in 1985; cousins John Miller in 1998, and Marcia Corlett in 2008.
