Amanda Ida Werger, 87, Garnavillo, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Leonard Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Harold McMillin officiated. Burial was at the Monona City Cemetery, Monona.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Firday, Oct. 34, at the Leonard Funeral Home in Monona, and one hour before services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Amanda was born on November 24, 1921, rural Luana, Iowa, to Herman and Alvina (Miller) Landt. She attended the Luana School through the eighth grade.

Amanda was united in marriage to Clarence Werger on September 11, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Clarence later passed away on November 25, 1966.

Amanda was a homemaker until the passing of Clarence. She then starting working for Mutters in Guttenberg and then Nordic Forge in Guttenberg. Amanda cleaned homes and helped with the elderly in the area. She loved crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three children, Harlan “Hank” (June) Werger, Garnavillo, Ronald (Kimberly) Werger, Garnavillo, Dale (DiAna) Werger, Garnavillo; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lorenz (LuNida) Landt, Luana and Harold Landt, Prairie du Chien, WI.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
