Last Rites Held For Ray Ferguson

Funeral services for Ray Ferguson, 90, were held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 29, at 2 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral home with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.

Mr. Ferguson was taken to the hospital on Nov. 27 from the home of his son, Donald, with whom he had lived for the last ten years. He had been in ill health for some time and had received hospital care at different intervals during the last five years. On Dec. 20, his condition became worse and he had to undergo an emergency major operation.

He was born May 20, 1878, on a farm north of Monona, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ferguson. When he was 17 years old, his father died and he assisted his mother on the farm.

He married Elizabeth Montgomery, March 21, 1902. Two children were born to them, Lloyd, who died Jan. 29, 1960, and Donald of Elk Grove Village, Ill.

He served as town marshal and street commissioner of Monona for many years.

He is survived by his son, Donald; three grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Szabo (Mary) of Castalia, Stanley Ferguson of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. James Chrysokos (Betty) of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; one brother, Elgie of Monona; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Lloyd; his two sisters, Laura and Cora; seven brothers, Doran, Bert, Robert, Alfred, Frank, Herbert and Ward; one little great-granddaughter, Kathleen Elizabeth Chrysokos.

Pallbearers were Lyman, Fred, William, Jason, Clarence and Eugene Ferguson.
