David C. McCauley 77, of McGregor, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, following a long illness.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor. Military honors were accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to McGregor Public Library.
The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor assisted the family.
He is survived by his wife Darlene; six children, Wayne (Tina) McCauley of Becker, Minn., Shaunna Lynn Fertig of Des Moines, Iowa, Kevin (Beverly) Kaiser and Keith (Sheila) Kaiser both of Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth (Katie) Kaiser of Ankeny, Iowa, Beverly (David) Wignall of Des Moines, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
David was born September 1, 1931, in McGregor, to Cyrus and Mary (Tschol) McCauley. He served in the Army Signal Corps from 1951 to 1953. He married Joanne Wycoff, they later divorced.
David worked as an engineer for Northwestern Bell for many years until his retirement. He married Darlene Jean Drish November 1, 1976. They moved to McGregor in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Joelene Lockner, a grandson, and eight siblings.
