Funeral services for Ellen Mae Koopman, 71, were held Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1981 at 11 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Ellen Mae Koopman, daughter of Louis and Cora (Walters) Krambeer, was born Jan. 30, 1909 in Monona Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died Jan 19 at her home in Postville. She was baptized Feb. 23, 1909 and received her education in the Grand Meadow School No. 5 (Bailey School).

Dec. 18, 1930 she was married to Gerhard H. Koopman at West Union. They farmed near Luana, moving to Sheffield and Clear Lake and returned to this area to a farm in Grand Meadow Township in 1944, where they lived until retiring to Postville in 1968.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean; a brother, Arno; and two infant grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Louis of Kingston, Wis.; James of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Arvin of Dalton, Wis.; four daughters, Mrs. John (Lois) Wahls of Elkader; Mrs. Dale (Geraldine) Schroeder of Postville; Mrs. John (Dixie) Koch of Orange Park, Fla.; and Mrs. Roger (Cora) Hansen of Trempleau, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Bollman of Monona; and Mrs. Dale (Evelyn) Meyer of Postville; two brothers, Lawrence Krambeer of Decorah; and Elmer Krambeer of Postville.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and active in the Womens Association while her health permitted.
