Final Rites Held For Thomas Olson

Final rites were held Tuesday, March 8, for Thomas Olson at East Clermont Church with Rev. A C. Nesset conducting the services. Mr. Olson passed away at Postville Hospital March 5.

Thomas Olson was born June 1, 1866, in Illinois. He was the son of Torsten and Anna Ringen Olson. His father died when he was about a year old. Soon afterwards he came with his mother to this community where he was confirmed in the East Clermont Church and lived in this vicinity until 1893 when he was united in marriage in February to Ida Josephine Dorthea Brorby. They moved to Browns Valley, Minnesota, where they resided for seven years. They moved back to Iowa to the Brorby farm in Marion township where he lived up to his death.

Mr. Olson was taken sick on February 24. He was taken to the Postville Hospital where he passed away March 5, 1949 at the age of 82 years.

His wife preceded him in death on September 10, 1939. Also three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death, namely: Gustav, Anton, Edwin, Fredrick A. (Mrs. Wells), Guldbjor (Mrs. Humphrey), and Oline (Mrs. Beucher).

He leaves to mourn one brother, Julius Olson, of Decorah; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Walker of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Alma Juvick of Rochester; four children, Joseph, Mrs. Alma Mork, James and Mrs. Esther Helgerson, all residents of this vicinity; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
