Arno August "Gus" Neverman

Arno August "Gus" Neverman, son of Henry and Louise Pupka Neverman, was born October 8, 1911, at Frankville, IA. He died Sunday, October 6, 1991, at his home in Luana.

He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Frankville and confirmed March 28, 1926 by Rev. Harold Kumpf at Luana. He received his education at the Luana schools. Arno was a member of the Luana Fire Department and was fire chief for several years in the 1940's. He was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp.

He was married to Helen Marguerite Hinman on August 24, 1940, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. He was employed by Swiss Valley from 1940 to 1976. Arno won the Iowa Butter Making Championship in the early 1950's. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Ken Neverman, Nappanee, IN; and Bryce Neverman, Springdale, AR; two daughters, Penny Howard and Kayleen Deeny, both of Waukon; eight grandchildren, Lori Creery, Dave and Missy Howard, Stacey and Jeremy Neverman, Kelly Lawson, Dustin and Karinne Deeny; a great-grandson, Jordan Neverman; and a brother, Harold (Wimp) Neverman of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 7, 1991, 2:00 p.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, IA. Rev. Ted Ager officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Weller, Lorenz Landt, Willard Sander and Ed Szabo. Active pallbearers were Lonny Baade, LaVern Schrader, Roger Landt, Ronald Schrader, Steve Neverman and Ronald Hofer. Burial was in the Luana Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, IA, was in charge of services.
