GUTTENBERG, Ia. – Herman Schute, 77, died Friday morning after a brief illness at the family home in Guttenberg.

Born Sept. 4, 1877, at Guttenberg, Mr. Schute would have been 78 years old on Sunday. He married Louise Kreisler on May 5, 1901.

Surviving are four daughters, Miss Dorothy Schute and Mrs. Oscar (Dolores) Padden, both of Dubuque, Mrs. Cyril (Norma) Kluesner, McGregor, Ia., and Mrs. Clarence (Bernice) Keller, Lansing, Ia.; six sons, Arnold Schute, Monona, Ia., Urban Schute, Waterloo, Ia., Delbert Schute, Dubuque, Raymond Schute, Guttenberg, Marvin Schute, Farley, and LaVern Schute, Los Angeles, Calif.; 28 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife in 1953.

Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Steger Funeral Home in Guttenberg. Complete arrangements will be announced.
