Clyde Johnson Rites At Monona Thursday
McGregor - Services for Pfc. Clyde Johnson, son of Mrs. Kate Johnson of McGregor, will be held Thursday at the Schultz funeral home in Monona. Pfc. Johnson was killed March 1, 1945, in action in Germany. He enlisted in the army July 3, 1942, at Marquette and served in Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was wounded July 20, 1944, in France and sent to England for hospitalization. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and a citation for devotion to duty. In addition to his mother, Pfc. Johnson is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Merle Wilbur of Minneapolis and Mrs. Nels Rierson of Chicago, and a brother, John, also of Chicago. They will attend the funeral in Monona, where the soldier's father is buried.
