Phelman Marion Peterson
Services were held Friday, February 5, 1971, at 1:30 p.m. from Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, for Phelman M. Peterson, who died February 2 at General Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin after an illness of several months. The Rev. Robert Henriksen officiated.
Phelman Marion Peterson, son of Mary Baumeister and Peter N. Peterson, was born October 16, 1905 on a farm near St. Olaf.
He received his education in the rural schools of Wagner Township. He was baptized and confirmed at the Norway Lutheran Church near St. Olaf, where he remained a lifetime member.
Mr. Peterson spent his life farming in Wagner Township. He had served on the Clayton County Conservation Board.
On April 9, 1947 he was married to Dorothy Farmer at St. Olaf. To this union four children were born: Myron Dale, who died in infancy, Phyllis, Debbie and Kevin all at home. He also raised a nephew Donald Peterson who lives near Elkader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Anton and his infant son. Surviving are his wife, one son, two daughters and two brothers, Melvin of Marion, Iowa and Orville of St. Olaf, Iowa.
Interment was in Norway Lutheran Cemetery.
