Mrs. HEROLD (Betty Lou Welzel) PAULSEN

A former Clayton county resident, Betty Lou (Welzel) Paulsen of Mesa, Ariz. died Friday, Dec. 31 at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson. She was 58.

Mrs. Paulsen was born in rural Clayton County, and worked in an area pharmacy before moving to Mesa in 1954.

Survivors include her husband, Herold of Mesa and three brothers, including Paul Welzel of Postville and one sister.

Herald Paulsen

Herald Paulsen of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Postville, died in his home Jan. 23 following a long illness. Herald was 78.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, who died Dec. 31, 1982; his parents, Ernst and Alma Paulsen; a brother, Henry; and a nephew, Lorenz E. "Buddy" Pape.

Survivors include his brother Harvey and wife Marjorie of Elgin; two sisters, Hazel and her husband Lorenz Pape of Postville and Hilda and her husband Eugene Horstman, and many nieces and nephews.

Gibbar Gardens Chapel, Mesa, Ariz., was in charge of services with burial in Green Acres, Scottsdale, Ariz.
