Dorothy Peterson
Dorothy Peterson, 61, died Thursday while working with her daughter in Elkader.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 o'clock a.m. at Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. The Rev. Keith Klemm officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Norway Cemetery, St. Olaf.
Dorothy Mae Peterson, daughter of Lee and Ruby (Trudo) Farmer was born March 28, 1924 in Clermont Township, Fayette County.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder and attended the Pleasant Valley School near Clermont.
April 9, 1947 she was married to Phelman Peterson at the parsonage in St. Olaf. They had 4 children. They farmed in the Gunder and St. Olaf areas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Phelman, who died Feb. 2, 1971, a son, Myron Dale, in infancy.
Surviving is a son Kevin of Postville, 2 daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Roger Glawe), Volga, Debbie (Mrs. Dale Mohs), St. Olaf, three grandchildren, her father, Lee Farmer and a brother, Jim Farmer, both of Postville, and a nephew, Donald Peterson, who had lived with them.
She was a member of the Marion Lutheran Church.
Casket Bearers were Dave Farmer, Ray Peterson, Peter Kuene, Larry Landsgard, Russell Peterson, Henry Christianson, Jr.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Glen Pixler, Woodrow Hyde, Rosco Larson, Maurice Landsgard, Arlyn Gray, Franklin Wacker.
The organist was Corinne Landsgard and the soloist was Ronald Meyer.
