Alma Peterson
Funeral services were held for Alma J. Peterson, 81, at Norway Lutheran Church in St. Olaf, March 22, 1980 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Keith Klemm and the Rev. Duane Berg officiated.
Alma Peterson was born Feb. 16, 1899 in Marion Township, the daughter of Nichalaus and Augusta (Staake) Johnson. She died at the Central Community Hospital, Elkader, where she had been a patient since Dec. 13, 1979.
Alma was baptized April 2, 1899 and was confirmed July 6, 1913 at the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. She was united in marriage with Anton Christian Peterson at the St. Olaf parsonage Jan. 11, 1922, after which she became an active member of Norway Lutheran Church.
She farmed with her husband until his death in 1959 and then moved to the Elgin area in 1960, joining the Elgin Lutheran Church where she was a communicant member until her death. She worked as a homemaker-Aide for several people in that area.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a sister in infancy, a brother, Albert Johnson, at age 17, and a grandchild in infancy.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Nora Larson and Mrs. Ida Leuchtenmacher; two children, Mrs. Arlene Leeman, Elgin and Norman Peterson of St. Olaf; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
