SERVICES HELD FOR HULDA PAPE
Hulda Peters, the daughter of Johann Peters and Emma nee Buenger was born on August 2, 1895, at Readlyn. She was baptized on Aug. 25, 1895, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Readlyn, and was confirmed at the same church in 1909. She attended a rural school near Readlyn.
On Sept. 21, 1916, she was united in marriage with Otto Pape. They lived at Waverly and Readlyn where Mr. Pape worked in a hardware store and as a plumber.
In 1925 they moved to Monona where Mr. Pape was a partner in Pape's Hardware Store, which is now Evans Hardware. Mr. Pape passed away in 1964.
Mrs. Pape was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, and had been a member of the Mission Circle and the Women of the Church.
Surviving are 5 children: Evelyn (Lorenz) Lenth, Jr. of Luana, Carol (Robert) Schillig of Cedar Rapids, Merwyn Pape of Sunny Vale, Calif., Marjorie (James) Markey of Bellevue, Nebr. and Dorothy (Melvin) Radloff of Luana; one brother, Herman Peters of Tripoli and three sisters: Bertha (Louis) Wente of Waverly, Amanda (Albert) Nolting of Santa Anna, Calif. and Elsie (August) Tonne of Tripoli; 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers, William and Edwin Peters and two sisters, Wilhelmina and Anna Peters.
Mrs. Pape passed away on April 30 at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 28 days.
Services were held May 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Pastor R. E. Langholz officiating.
Pallbearers were Robert Radloff, Terry Pape, Verdine Houg, Rick Lenth, Dennis Markey, Carl Boon, Richard Helgerson, William Radloff and Kim Lenth.
Burial was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.
