Marie Freidericka Miene
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on July 17, 2004 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa, with interment in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, for Marie Freidericka Miene, 95, of Monona, who died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa, following a brief illness. Leonard Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.
She was born on September 19, 1908, in rural Winneshiek County to August and Caroline (Diederick) Schutte. Marie attended rural schools through eighth grade, and then attended and graduated from Postville High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.
On May 20, 1931, she was united in marriage to Frederick Carl Miene at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. They were the proud parents of one son, Robert.
Marie taught rural school for five years and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She and Frederick ran the John Deere business in Monona for over thirty years.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Carol) Miene, Monona, three grandchildren, Fred, Dan and Bobby Miene; one great-granddaughter, Briana Miene and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Elmer, Helmuth and Walter Schutte and three sisters, Amanda Sander, Florence Miene and Velma Block.
