JOSEPH MEYERS DEAD
Acuerable Citizen Called to His Reward Was 87 Years Old.
Joseph Myers, aged 87 years, passed away at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. A. Artes (Artus), 1635 Washington street, at 9:30 o'clock Thrusday morning.
Deceased was born in Alsace, Lutringen, Germany, and emigrated to this country in 1853, remaining one year in New Jersey, afterward removing to Elkader, where he resided until three months ago. Mr. Myers was universally respected in the community in which he lived. His life was useful inasmuch as he was always interested in the welfare of his fellow beings. He lived a good life and although advanced in years his loss will be severely felt by those near and dear to him. The deceased is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Henry Ohlekoff, Mrs. A. Artes (Artus), Mrs. E. Marble of this city, Mrs. John Turner (Thurnher) of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Phil Lenhardt, of Volga City, and Miss Lucy Myer of Elkader, and two sons, William M. and Frank, both of Volga City.
Undertaker Spahn shipped the remains to Elkader, where funeral services will be held this morning.
