GUTTENBERG, Iowa -- Mayme B. Eglseder, 89, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Guttenberg.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Guttenberg, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mayme was born December 7, 1918 at Graham to John and Mabel (Mock) Schrunk. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1936. Mayme taught at a country school at Graham for five years. She attended U.N.I., University of Dubuque and Upper Iowa, where she received her teacher's certificate.
She married Walter F. Eglseder on June 14, 1941 at St. Mary's Church in Guttenberg. She taught school at Petersburg and Luxemburg from 1966 until her retirement in 1983.
Mayme enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzles, quilting and socializing. She was a member of T.O.P.S. and K.O.P.S, volunteered at Guttenberg Care Center, the gift shop at the hospital, worked with the Share program and wrote the Millville News for the Guttenberg Press for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Lu Ann (Joe) Hesler of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; four sons; Jim (Kathy) Eglseder, of Guttenberg, Terry Eglseder, of Balltown, Steve (Barbara) Eglseder, of Wood Center, John (Jane) Eglseder, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter, on February 26, 2005; two sisters: Edith Schrunk, Ruth Benstine; two brothers, Ray Schrunk and Gerald Schrunk; and a granddaughter, Courtney Eglseder.
