Jacklyn Jean "Jackie" (Rutledge) Meyer was born on April 28, 1944, in Elkader to Merlin and Helene (Amsden) Rutledge. Jackie attended Elkport School and graduated from Central High School in Elkader in 1962.

She worked at Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids and married Gary Thrane in 1965. Two children were born to this union. She spent several years as a single mother and worked at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union.

In 1992, Jackie met and married her true soul mate, Allan Ray Meyer. She welcomed two more children into her care. Jackie raised her children with tough love, teasing, and laughter. She enjoyed reading, crafts, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jackie was Elkport town treasurer and also treasurer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport until the flood took their home in 2004. She and Allan then made their home in Elkader.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Allan Ray Meyer of Elkader; her children, Brian Thrane, Shanna (Aaron) Schroeder of Elkader, Davean Gregory of Manchester, and Daniel Meyer (Kendolynn Kirby) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jovi Thrane of Cedar Rapids, Careena, Alexa, and Zachary Schroeder of Elkader, Andrea Holtz of Cedar Rapids, Stephen, Jonathan, and Korey Gregory of Manchester; her brothers, Gary Rutledge of Decorah, Kent Rutledge of Georgia, and Terry (Gracie) Rutledge of Manchester; and her sister, Julie (Dave Gerner) Moody of Garber; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her parents and a brother-in-law, George Moody, preceded her in death.

Jackie placed herself "in God's Hands" on November 14 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Funeral services were private with Rev. Harold McMillin officiating. Burial was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Garber.

Pall bearers were Vince Meyer, Frayne Horstman, Larkin Rutledge, Leslie Wayne Coonfare, Stuart Moody, and Neal Meyer. Honorary bearers were Joyce Horstman, Dixie Willman, Jane Thein, Jennifer Schroeder, and Lori Coonfare.
