Tomkins Services Tuesday - Chester Tomkins Died Saturday At His Home -
Funeral services were held on Feb. 3, 1948 from the Tuecke funeral chapel here for Chester Tomkins, who died Saturday, January 31 at his home here at the age of 59 years. The services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Eshbaugh, and burial was in the Bethel cemetery near Osterdock.
Mr. Tomkins was born in Mallory township on December 27, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Tomkins. He lived his entire life in this community. On January 19, 1910, he was married to Anna Moser at Cassville, Wis., and the couple lived on a farm near here. In 1934 he retired from the farm, and they lived in Osterdock. Five years ago they came to Guttenberg to make their home.
In addition to Mrs. Tomkins, he is survived by four brothers and three sisters. They are Joe Tomkins, Roy Tomkins, and Frank Tomkins of Colesburg, W. M. Tomkins of Guttenberg, Mrs. Fred Steinfadt and Mrs. Russell Barnhart of Colesburg, and Mrs. Chas. Moser of Osterdock.
He was Preceded in death by two children.
