RITES HELD FOR CRASH VICTIM - Colesburg Woman killed in Nebraska - Sept. 1948
Colesburg, Ia. - Services for Mrs. Harold (Gertrude) Lambert, daughter of Mrs. Mary Hunt, of Colesburg, who was killed in a freak auto accident last Friday near Sterling, Neb. were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Bethel Church. The Rev. E. A. Lecour, pastor of the Zion Methodist church officiated, and burial was in the Bethel cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Lambert were traveling in Nebraska with a house trailor behind their car. The trailor was hit by a second car, and the Lamberts got out of their car, along with the two occupants of the second auto to investigate.
While surveying the damage, a third car rammed into the second automobile, which was pushed into the trailer. The two occupants of the second car and Mrs. Lambert were instantly killed, and Lambert was seriously injured. Lambert lost an eye, and arm, and a leg, and is being cared for at a Sterling hospital.
Mrs. Lambert is survived by her mother, her husband, six sisters and a brother, George Hunt of Dubuque.
